The Chrysler Town & Country was a minivan manufactured and marketed by Chrysler. It was introduced in 1989. After five generations and 27 model year runs, the Town & Country was discontinued in 2016 and was replaced by the Chrysler Pacifica minivan. However, make sure you have your Chrysler Town & Country repair manual pdf when you are repairing your Town & Country. From personal experience, I verify that having one can save you from a lot of headaches.

Introduced in 1989, the Town & Country was based on the long-wheelbase Chrysler S platform. The Town & Country was distinguished by its chrome waterfall grille, standard woodgrain applique, and grooved lower body cladding. Initially, the Town & Country was only available in two exterior colors: Bright White Clearcoat and Black Clearcoat.

As the Chrysler's most luxurious minivan, the Town & Country came standard with all the bells and whistles available on Plymouth and Dodge minivans in addition to some exclusive amenities of its own. These included unique gathered leather seating surfaces, front and rear air conditioning, luggage rack, seven-passenger seating, an Infinity sound system, and an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission. Models produced before June 1989, came with 3.0 L Mitsubishi 6G72 V6 engine, while models produced from June onward were upgraded to Chrysler's own 3.3 L EGA V6 engine.

Introduced in November 1990, the second generation Town & Country, produced from 1991 to 1995, used the Chrysler AS platform. The second generation was the last Town & Country that was based on the Chrysler K platform. The second generation Town & Country came fully equipped and offered no additional trim levels.

The third generation 1996 redesign used the Chrysler NS platform and included several industry firsts, including a driver-side sliding door and Easy Out Roller Seats. The third generation Town & Country was able to cover a broader customer base through new designated trim levels. The premium LXi, an unnamed entry-level model (later redesignated LX), and the LX model (later renamed SX). The engines options included a 3.3 L gasoline-powered engine, a 3.3 L flexible-fuel 3.3 L engine, and a 3.8 L engine.

The fourth generation Town & Country was redesigned for the 2001 model-year, using the Chrysler RS platform. It went on sale in January 2000. The 2001 Town & Country had the same trim levels as the previous generation. By the 2005 Town & Country, Chrysler decided to give it a mid-cycle refresh, and for the remainder of this generation, available trims included the base, LX, Touring, and Limited models.

In 2011, Chrysler Town & Country once again received a mid-cycle refresh. A Pentastar V6 engine replaced the previous 3.8 L and 3.3 L V6 engines, 6-speed automatic transmission. The Town & Country S was debuted in 2012 Los Angeles International Auto Show. The model came equipped with black-background Chrysler Winged badges front and rear, a black chrome grille combined with a black rear fascia step pad, and 'S' model badging.

Few companies have had the impact on the landscape of American automotive engineering that Chrysler has had. Hailing from the United States’ own Motor City of Detroit, Chrysler has produced at least two of America’s main brands of car – Dodge and Jeep, which have each gone on to symbolize the most American elements of the automobile. As a whole, Chrysler has come to represent a certain quality, a ruggedness that is present in the best American cars, linked to an element of style and excellence
However, it goes without saying that a car will only take so much heavy use before it develops faults. Some cars will take longer than others to develop their faults, but it happens to them all in the end. The important thing is to ensure that a small fault is not allowed to blossom into a major glitch which will require spending a great deal to replace it or needing to scrap it. a good service manual will allow the owner of a car to identify and correct minor faults, and to know when it needs major work.
